Week beginning - Monday 3rd May 2021

In Maths this week we have been exploring volume and capacity. We have been using the scale to support us in effectively measuring the volume of a container. The children worked together to challenge themselves read and record the volume.

Phonics words using concrete objects!

The children moved around 4 activities this afternoon allowing them to explore the importance of exercise, eating correctly and personal hygiene.
Mrs Gilbert provided the children with the opportunity to try a variety of healthy snacks; every child tried something new today and most children really loved what they tried. A favourite was definitely the malt loaf!
With myself, the children were made aware of the importance of drinking water. The children learnt that a child should drink 6-8 cups of water (or similar) a day. We discussed strategies of how we could all drink more water. The children were introduced to the terminology ‘hydrated’ and ‘dehydrated’. We identified obvious symptoms of someone becoming dehydrated. We then made a recording table to help us investigate how much water Year 1 and 2 drink per day.
The children learnt all about The Eatwell Plate with Miss Villalba, identifying the different food groups and the foods that belong in them. Using plates and pictures of different foods and drinks, the children were encouraged to create their own
Eatwell Plate.
The children undertook a research enquiry with Miss Coles, using books and the internet to find out about hygiene. The children recorded their finding using a group spider diagram.
To conclude, we discussed everything that we had learnt during the afternoon.

Have a wonderful weekend. See you on Monday.
